Laurel Schumm

Teacher

Ms. Schumm joined The Bay School team in 2018 as an Instructor and became a Teacher Trainee in 2021. In 2022, Ms. Schumm transitioned to her current role of Teacher of Transition Classroom 2, working with our adolescent and young adult students.

Ms. Schumm received her BS in Environmental Studies at The Evergreen State College with the intention of pursuing environmental science research and law. After beginning work at The Bay School, Ms. Schumm quickly realized her passion for special education and love for spending time in the classroom. Ms. Schumm enjoys teaching communication and essential life skills to help our students advocate for themselves and lead fulfilling lives.

Ms. Schumm is currently attending California State University, Monterey Bay where she is in the process of completing coursework to obtain her MA in Special Education. Ms. Schumm holds a moderate/severe education specialist instruction credential.
